El Chorro Bed and Breakfast

El Chorro is a small, quiet village about 20 minutes drive from the main town of Alora. El Chorro has 4 local restaurant/bars to offer, all within a 5 minute drive or a 15 minute walk, although the hills are quite steep so you would definitely work off those puddings!

The Rocabella restaurant is run by our Spanish friends Celestina and lucas and comes highly recommended with a good menu. The El Chorro camping bar 'Los Pinos' is approx a 10 min walk  to the village and is popular in the evenings. La Garganta Hotel restaurant is also in the village.

Across the dam and heading up towards the lakes there are some lovely spanish bars and retaurants to offer.

There is also a small local train station snack bar with a couple of basic grocery shops.

The main town of Alora is a large, bustling town with much to offer. There are many restaurants, cafes, bars and shops for all your needs. There is a local market every Monday morning and there is a large supermarket for those holiday essentials. During Spanish fiesta holidays the town often has festivals on which are fantastic.

We do strongly recommend car hire to make the most of the area. Many bargain deals can be found at Malaga airport. We recommend rentacarspain.com which have some vehicles for only 69 euros per week with no fuel surcharge.

There are many sight seeing attractions within an hours drive that are stunning and well worth visiting. The coast is also within easy reach, in approximately 1 hour you can reach Malaga and 1½ hours drive you ca reach Marbella and Puerto Banus, the millionaires playground!

The Lakes of Ardarles are breath-taking and are approximately only a 20 minute drive away. The lakes offer some water-sports and there are restaurants and cafes there also. In the summer the water levels drop to offer some beach areas that are perfect for all day sunbathing, picnicing and swimming.

En route to the lakes you will pass the famous ‘Camino Del Rey’ also known as The Kings Walk. It is an old walkway that skirts around the side of the mountain gorge and is very popular challenge with climbers in El Chorro in the winter months as it is partly collapsed and is a famous climbing route.

Also approximately an hours drive away you can visit El Torcal, which we nickname Bedrock Land! As it looks just like the cartoon character ‘Fred Flintstones’ home. Many hundreds of years ago the area was under sea level and the sea has carved smooth ravines through the mountains of rock and it is quite a sight to see!

Lobo Park (the wolf sanctuary) is en-route to Antequerra and is a fantastic natural park where the wolves to live. You can see them in their natural habitat, see them being fed and as a special night out they offer the 'Wolf Howl' nite where you can here all the wolves howling together!

Ronda is approx 1 hours drive and is a beautiful town to visit, with many streets to wander and many cafe bars and restaurants to offer. Truly worth a visit.

If shopping is on the agenda then Antequerra is the town for you! A large, busy town with many boutiques, bars and restaurants in the main part of the town and a seperate shopping precinct just out of town with larger stores such as C&A and Dunnes.

With so much to offer in the surrounding area the Olive Branch B&B accommodation in El Chorro is truly a great base for an all round holiday.
